How Do You Manage Safety?
-Safety is our number-one priority, and in addition to their coaching expertise, our staff are rigorously trained in injury-prevention and youth activity management and safety.
-Campers are grouped according to ability level and age, and all activities and obstacles are scaled and appropriate for each age and ability grouping.
-We have a 1 to 10 ratio of camper to staffer in each group
-All staff are first aid/CPR trained
-Equipment is screened for safety at the beginning of each day, and routine maintenance is pre-scheduled
-We rotate through obstacles so hands and arms don’t get too tired
-We monitor temperature and stay inside if it’s too hot
-All obstacles have cushioning around them and mats underneath
What is a Typical Day at Camp Like:
- Camp is held indoor and outdoor (weather permitting).
-We have a freestanding rig and turf area outdoors, with many obstacles and activity options, picnic tables and shade canopies.
-We begin with a warm up and safety discussion each day.
-Our groups rotate through upper body and lower body obstacles, taking ample breaks to rest, be silly and play both active and down-time group games.
A week might include:
Day 1: Safe-training techniques, how to warm up properly, balance, movement awareness & lessons on specific individual Ninja obstacles
Day 2: Strength & conditioning, flexibility & core conditioning, grip strength challenges, progressions of Day 1 lessons
Day 3: Linking multiple Ninja-skills and obstacles together, flowing through a course, progressions of Day 1 & 2 lessons.
Day 4: Parkour movement, basic tumbling and gymnastics , and mental preparation
Day 5: Mock Competition to run a full multi-stage obstacle course. Counselors vs. campers. 1-1. Team relays and challenges.
